Ministry to the Migrant Farm Workers

Hispanic migrant farm workers are in a number of areas in east Tennessee. Most of these farms are tomato and strawberry farms. These workers are from Mexico and Latin America and are very family oriented working to support families back home. We are able to enter several of these camps in the evenings and provide a Gospel witness. A 20x40 tent is set up where we show evangelistic DVD's and an interpreter relays a message . The best arrangment is when a Spanish pastor can bring a message for the workers. Fellow believers are always encouraged to join the ministry as there are many ways to help. The tent must be set up and taken down. The electrical equipment needs to be set up as well as the screen. Hygiene kits are to be made ready and distributed along with ,of course, Spanish Bibles and Christian literature. We thank God for the opportunity to reach out to these people for whom Christ died.

Smoky Mountain Day Camp in an annual event for children ages 7-12. The location is in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park near Cosby, TN. We meet at a large picnic pavilion which is the center of our activities. We have special Bible story teaching along with Bible memory work and missionary stories. The day also includes recreation games, hiking, wading in a nearby creek as well as handcrafts. The camp begins each day at 10:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM. A number of volunteer helpers attend and assist in many ways as we seek to reach out to these children with the Gospel message. We also have a family fun night the following Sunday night at our church where the whole family enjoys a special program reviewing the past week with a picnic meal and fellowship.
